For decades, singer Wayne Newton has become one of the most well-known entertainers to emerge from Las Vegas, Nevada. He was a hot commodity in his prime, with songs like “Daddy, Don’t You Walk Too Far” and “Years” charting in the Billboard Top 100. “Danke Schoen,” which featured prominently in the classic 1980s film Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, is perhaps his most famous hit. Much of the top-name entertainers of the 1970s backed Wayne Newton throughout his career, including Lucille Ball, George Burns, Bobby Darin, Jack Benny, and Danny Thomas.

Wayne Newton’s personal life hasn’t been ideal, and in addition to his ever-expanding waistline, his assets have been a total disaster. He was investigated over different ways of financial mismanagement for most of the 2000s, and it all came to a head in 2012 when he filed bankruptcy.
