Matthew Palmer got down on one knee in the center of the ring during an independent wrestling event in 2017 and asked his girlfriend Athena to marry him. Ember Moon earned the NXT Champion as a result of their marriage in 2018 before making her main roster debut in 2019. Even though Palmer has participated in a few tag team contests for Impact Wrestling, he still works for independent organizations.
