He fired Sheldon when he was originally hired by the university because he thought he was disrespecting his intelligence. Gablehauser expresses a love interest in Sheldon’s mother, which leads to Sheldon’s rehiring later in the season.

Ian Scott Rudolph was the actor who played Captain Sweatpants. Captain Sweatpants was a middle-aged bald man who wore gray sweatpants and a Captain America t-shirt as his characteristic attire. He was a frequent visitor to the guys’ favorite comic book store. He is pals with Wil Wheaton and another comic book store misfit, Lonely Larry, and they are both comic book fans (Owen Thayer).
