Parents: Yoko Ono and Anthony Cox (adopted by John Lennon)

Born: August 8, 1963

Upon the marriage of John and Yoko in 1969, he assumed the role of stepfather to Yoko’s daughter from her previous marriage to American director and art promoter Anthony Cox. As they were beginning their marriage, Yoko Ono and her ex-husband battled over who would have custody of their daughter. As a result of his ordeal, John penned the song “Don’t Worry Kyoko (Mummy’s Just Looking for Her Hand in the Snow)” for his daughter. The song was written by the Plastic Ono Band, which included John Lennon, Ringo Starr, and Eric Clapton. Kyoko was eight years old when Cox kidnapped her and reared her as Ruth Holman, a pseudonym. However, he belonged to The Living Word Fellowship, a religious cult, in spite of his criminal record. After leaving the cult with her father in the 1970s, Kyoko did not see her mother until the 1990s, when she reconnected with her. It is unknown what Kyoko’s background is like, although she is said to be a teacher who is also married and the mother of two children.
